*sigh* Recruiters
- Me: I've been hearing from a few folks that you've been doing the equivalent of cold-calling some of my facebook contacts. It's perfectly understandable that you're trying to expand your network of friends and I encourage it. I just ask that you respect me and my friends by asking me for an introduction first. Facebook and LinkedIn are two different kinds of sites.
- Recruiter Dude: I contacted a few people from Powerset, but it was not related to you or anything that I found off of you page. Sorry if they think that.
- Me: Just realize the Facebook is not necessarily the same as LinkedIn.
- Recruiter Dude: I do, however FaceBook promotes developer to bring apps and other things here. So for that reason, it is a good place to find people that are motivated and excited by new technology. As I mentioned to your friend, my job is to find people for the companies that I work for and I try an do that as intrusively as possible, but it can be a hard line to walk.
- Just know that me contacting you coworker is unrelated to us connecting here.
- Me: I'm sure it was just a Freudian slip and you meant "non-intrusively"
